Lacuna is an independent editorial project. We publish short, opinionated analyses of Polymarket prediction markets — the kind the financial press ignores and the quant shops don't bother with because there's no alpha left over once you pay the slippage.
Why we exist
Prediction markets sit in a strange place. They're full of opinion, but most coverage either restates the question or treats the price as news. We think the interesting place is the zone in between — the markets where the consensus and the discussion are out of sync, and the editorial move is to read the gap.
What we do
Every article here starts the same way. Before anyone writes a line of prose, we assemble the full research base — market data, news flow, on-chain history, the live conversation around the trade, primary reporting, and anything else the price seems to be reacting to. This is volume no single human can read cover-to-cover in an afternoon, and that's the point.
We pair frontier AI with sharp human editors to weigh the evidence. The models do the heavy lifting — pulling signal out of thousands of data points, linking claims to sources, flagging contradictions. The editors do the judgment — deciding which thread actually matters, which argument holds up, and where the desk is willing to stake a view. We pick a side, yes or no, and write a short editorial defending it with every claim linked back to the source.
When the evidence moves, we update the call on the same URL and archive the previous view. Nothing is silently rewritten. Every direction change is logged on the public flip log, with the date and the trigger.
What we're not
Not a hedge fund. Not a forecasting benchmark. Not an aggregator. We do not publish Brier scores or probability point estimates, and we are not going to pretend our calls are calibrated to three decimal places. If you want a dashboard, Polymarket is free and more complete. If you want a desk that reads the room and says something lopsided out loud, that's us.
How it's built
The whole pipeline — curator, gatherers, research-and-write passes, the static build — runs end-to-end from one script. The open-source methodology is documented in detail on the methodology page. The site itself is a static Astro build served from Cloudflare Pages; no tracking, no dark patterns, no paywall on the public feed.
